JONES,ELSTON,VANDERBEEK,PORTER AND MATHER VISIT VICTORY LANE AT BLOOMFIELD

BLOOMFIELD, Ia. (June 2, 2006) -  A great night of racing action was held at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway sponsored by Morgan`s Pit Stop in Bloomfield with five classes in action. The four out of five feature saw new faces in victory lane for the first time in 2006. The large crowd was thrilled with wheel-to-wheel action in four of the five feature events.

The first feature was the Kirkland Auto USRA Hobby Stock feature set for fifteen laps of door-to-door action with Mark Moore of Ottumwa taking the lead when the green flag dropped but a flat tire would end his run at the checkers and forece him to come from the rear of the field. On the restart Dustin Griffiths of Ottumwa would lead till lap thirteen before,Ben Jones of Wiliamsburg would close in for a shot at the win after starting twelveth. Griffiths would slide high in turn two on the white flag lap and allow Jones to take the race lead and score his first win of 2006. The young Griffiths would take second with Jim Walker of Mystic taking third after battling his way from eleventh. The fourth spot went to Jim Sulser of Centerville in the 11s mopar machine.

In the twenty lap Keith`s Foods Late Model feature Tommy Elston of Keokuk would take the win leading all twenty laps and take his third win in the series out of four races. A crowd favorite Chris Smyser of Lancaster,Mo. would take the runnerup spot with Mark Burgtorf of Quincy,Il. taking third and veteran racer Gary Webb of Blue Grass would take the fourth spot. In the two late model races Burgtorf took the win three weeks ago and Elston pocketed the winnings on the second go around at the new and improved Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway.

Our third feature of the night was the Spilman Auto Parts USRA modified feature going eighteen laps with rising star Brandon Banks of Washington taking the race lead and would pace the field till lap four, Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon would close the gap between his 33Z machine and Banks 22 machine. VanderBeek would lead the final thirteen laps for his second in a row Casey`s General Store weekly points race. The second spot went to Michael Long of Quincy,Il. who worked his way around the topside of the speedway after starting thirteenth. Banks took third with Mt.Ayr driver Dennis Elliott taking fourth.

The fourth feature was the Kollision Korner Hornets going eight laps with Dale Porter of Floris taking his second win at Bloomfield Speedway holding off some stellar competitors. Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa took second with Gene Irwin of Bloomfield taking third and Matt Moore of Ottumwa in fourth with his best finish.

In the Hougland Repair Shop USRa Stock Car feature Matt Greiner of Washington took the lead and looked to have his first win at the Bloomfield Speedway,but it slip away from him with Colt Mather taking the lead on lap twelve of the eighteen lap event. The second spot went to Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon who battled his way from eighth to second with Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasant in third and Greiner slipping back to fourth.This was Mathers first win at the Bloomfield Speedway and third win in his rookie season.

Next weeks racing action will kickoff at 7:00pm with hot laps and racing action at 7:30pm with the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints making there third apperance in 2006 along with the USRA hobby stocks,USRA Stock Cars and USRA modifieds and Hornets in action along with the winged warriors.
