BLANKENSHIP,SHELTON,ROBINSON AND FRAISE TAKE BLOOMFIELD FALL CHECKERS

BLOOMFIELD, IA. (Oct. 6-7, 2006) -  The first annual Pizza Hut Fall Festival was held with qualification races Friday night and Saturday night drivers gunning for some big money in the final race of 2006 season.

This was the first year for R L Promotions to hold a fall special in there first year of promoting the fast 3/8 mile speedway.

In the Hornet feature first time visitor Gordon Blankenship Jr. of Keokuk took home the $200 prize money and hardware after passing Dale Porter of Floris for the lead on lap four of the ten lap event. The battle for the third spot went to Brent Hartley of Niota,IL. who passed Gene Irwin of Bloomfield on the final lap with Irwin taking fourth.

The USRA Hobby Stock feature went 20 laps with the winner taking home $500 prize money. The 42 machine of Ben Jones looked to have the feature win in sight but mechanical problems would end his run to the checkers with only six laps remaining. This would turn the lead over to Mike Shelton of Ottumwa who took the checkers with Todd Reitzler of Grinnell taking the runner-up spot. Jason McDaniel of Eldon powered the Mark Moore owned machine from twelveth to a third place finish and Jim Sulser of Centerville in fourth.

In the USRA Stock Car feature Matt Greiner and Toby Johnson lead the field to the green for twenty-five laps of exciting wheel-to-wheel action with Greiner leading the first lap but his night would end with mechanical trouble ending his run. Toby Johnson would take over the race lead but would be short lived with Mike Robinson of Moravia taking the lead and never looked back taking the $1000 pay day. Johnson took a second place finish with Mike Harward of Floris thrilling the crowd as he worked the o1i machine from sixteenth to third and Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasant taking the fourth spot after starting tenth. This was a very special win for Robinson who's dad was celebrating his birthday at the races and does all the work on the 78r machine.

The $2000 to win 30 lap feature for the USRA Modifieds was a great race with Tony Fraise of Donnellson leading all thirty laps holding off several challenges and several yellows to pocket the money. Michael Long of Quincy, IL. would cut a right front tire sending him from the second spot to the back and raced his was back to a sixth place finish. The second spot went to Brandon Banks of Washington who passed Jerry Pilcher with only two laps remaining with Pilcher taking third and fourth going to Scott Dickey of Packwood.
