Fraise, McDaniel, Schroeder, McDaniel, Porter Bank Davis County Fair Wins On Davis County Savings Bank Night

BLOOMFIELD, Ia (July 13) -  It was another great night of racing Friday during the Davis County Fair sponsored by the Davis County Savings Bank at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway. The drivers went through the stands at intermission to collect money for Cody Townsend, who was burned while racing at the Speedway a few weeks ago. Townsend was on hand to receive the $1,400 collected for him.

Dale Porter, who started sixth, took the lead away from Ryan Moore with three laps to go in the 10-lap Hornet feature and then held off Ryan Yahnke to claim another win.

The USRA Hobby Stock feature saw two- and three-wide racing for the top five spots throughout all 15 laps. Dustin Griffiths jumped out front on the drop of the green flag, with Jason McDaniel, Mike Shelton, Wade Francis and Jim Walker trying to get the lead. McDaniel slipped by Griffiths late in the race to grab the top spot, with Francis following into second. McDaniel then held off several challenges by Francis to pick up his 13th win of 2007 on Friday the 13th.

Just like the USRA Hobby Stocks, the 18-lap USRA Stock Car feature saw plenty of two- and three-wide racing. Bert McDaniel grab the lead on lap 1, with Nathan Wood, Mike Robinson, Zack VanderBeek, Mike Harward, Pat Rachels and Ben Jones racing hard for the top seven spots. A late-race caution set up a green-white-checkered finish, with McDaniel holding the top spot on the restart. McDaniel held off a last-lap charge from VanderBeek to claim his first win of 2007.

The 10-lap USRA B-Mod feature saw Cory Brown take the lead on lap 1, with Andrew Schroeder battling him for the top spot. Schroeder got by Brown midway through the race, only to have Brown come back the next lap to get the lead back. But Schroeder wouldn't give up, as he took the lead on lap 8 and then held off Brown for the win.

Tony Fraise moved out front on the drop of the green flag in the 15-lap USRA Modified feature, with Jeff Gerhardt following in second. Fraise went on to lead all 15 laps in a caution-free race. Zack VanderBeek got by Gerhardt on the final lap to finish in second.

Next Friday, July 20, the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway roars back to life as KMGO Radio presents the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and Hornets. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00.
