MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD SPEEDWAY CAPS OFF SEASON WITH SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS

BLOOMFIELD, IA (August 29) - The final night at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway was sponsored by KBOE 104.9FM, Rancheo Centennial and Pepsi-Cola with several new faces in victory lane. The Kollision Korner mini-stock feature went to Jim Garret of Ottumwa who also took the track championship with Garrett ending the streak of David Probasco who had won the last three straight.

In the Mikel’s Inc. USRA hobby stock feature went to first time visitor Jimmy Hayes of Moravia who battled with the 2k of Derek Kirkland with Hayes taking the win. The track champion in the hobby stock division went to Jason McDaniel who scored his third track title and trying to become the national champion.

The Bennett Racing supplies USRA b-modifieds saw a good battle between Mike Shelton and Cory Brown of Ottumwa with Brown making the pass on the inside of Shelton with two laps remaining. This was Brown’s first ever win. Shelton took the second spot which was enough to take the track championship over Andrew Schroeder of Keswick.

In the Mid-America 305 sprints Dustin Whiting of West Burlington took the win his first of the 2008 season with Louis Lynch of Glenwood, Mo. Trying to close the gap but just run out of time finishing in second with Ryan Voss in third with Chad Huston in fourth and Mitchell Alexander taking fifth after leading the first six laps. Huston was crowned the 305 sprint champion.

The Lee Construction and Taylor Automotive stock cars saw Ben Jones and Mike Harward battle for the crown with only three points separating the two with Harward leading the field till lap eleven before Jones would take the lead and the checkers but Harward finished in second and this was enough to take the track championship.

In the Pepsi-Cola a-modifieds Casey Lancaster of Glenwood, Mo and Cody Townsend of Bloomfield battled for the lead with the two drivers making contact and brining the caution out sending both to the rear of the field. Beau Taylor of Canton, Mo. would take the lead and pick up his first ever win in the A-modifieds.

Lancaster would take the second spot and the track championship.
