DAVIS COUNTY FAIR CHECKERS GOTO BROWN, COOK, MCDANIEL, MATHER AND STILL
By: Tony Paris

BLOOMFIELD, IOWA (July 10) - After mother-nature spoiled the grandstand events for the first two night the annual Success Bank night at the races was held at the Davis County Fairgrounds on Friday July 9th.

The first feature was the Kollision Korner mini-stocks with the two guys who have already taken the checkers put on a show for the win. Devin Still of Annabelle, Mo. And Cassidy Kirkpatrick of Ottumwa swapped the lead several times. Still took the win over Kirkpatrick with Mike Fisher of Blakesburg and Andrew Hurley of Macon, Mo. in fourth.

The Golden Furrow Fertilizer B-mods was second on the card with twenty-five cars checked into the pit area. Rocky Fosdyck of Floris took the green with Jason McDaniel of Eldon and Mike Shelton of Ottumwa battled for the second spot before McDaniel and Shelton would pass Fosdyck for the top spot. McDaniel would have to survive the many cautions and finally go green, white and checkered with McDaniel holding off Shelton with Shelton taking second followed by Brad Iverson of Grinnell taking the third spot from Fosdyck with Fosdyck in fourth.

The Taylor Automotive stock car feature saw first time visitor Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasant make his annual visit for the fair and keeps his streak alive making it two in a row taking the 2009 and 2010 checkers. Shane Weller of Agency took the second spot. Mike Vangendren of Newton had to race his way to the front after a early caution caused when Vangendren spun in turns three and four. Vangendren took third and fourth went to Derrick Agee taking fourth in his first visit.

The Karr Collision Center hobby stocks saw Craig Brown take his first ever win at the Bloomfield Speedway. Brown passed Nick Ulin of Ottumwa who lead from the drop of the green till lap eight. Andy Coleman of Packwood and Ulin would battle for the second spot with Coleman taking second with Ulin in third and Tony Teninty of Eldon would race his 61 machine from the back to finish fourth.

The Slayton Polaris A-Mods saw two veteran Late models drivers in the field Jerry Pilcher and Denny Banks in action. Jerry Pilcher of Bloomfield would take the lead but would battle with Colt Mather of Webster who caught a caution flag to close the gap built by Pilcher. On the restart Mather would make his move to the lead in turn three for the pass. Mather would take the win. The battle for the second spot would see Jim Lynch of Bloomfield and Pilcher with Lynch making the pass on the last lap for the runner-up spot.
