AARON SUMMY WINS IMCA STOCK FEATURE IN PHOTO FINISH

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Ia. (April 21. 2006) - Though there wasn't a full moon the second night of the CJ Raceway season, you couldn't tell by the racing. Aaron Summy took the IMCA feature win in a photo finish over Tad Payne, Geoffrey Theobald won his first 4 Cylinder feature ever, Darrin Ealey held on through 3-wide racing in the corners for his feature win, Billy Faler avoided all accidents to take the CJ Cruiser win, and Hal Russell dominated the late model feature.

Shelly Mizell won her heat and was leading the IMCA feature with Aaron Summy and Tad Payne close behind. On lap 3 Travis Finke made contact with Brandon Jay in turns 3 and 4 spinning Jay out and collecting Rod Staats. Jay was out for the night and Finke and Staats were at the rear on the restart. It was Mizell, Summy, and Payne out front for the restart. Mizell bobbled in turn 4, cutting through the grass and coming to a stop on the infield fronstretch, bringing out a caution, and going a lap down. On the restart it's Summy and Payne putting on the show. Payne made it beside Summy numerous times, but was unable to make the pass until coming around for the white flag. They were three wide coming out of turn 4 with Summy high and Rod Staats low when Payne cut through the middle to take the lead. Coming out of turn 2 on the backstretch though Summy was back at the point. Summy and Payne came out of turn 4 for the checkers bouncing off of each other and the wall causing sparks to fly, but at the line it was Summy by 4 inches. Payne took second and Rod Staats finished third.

The green flag dropped on the CJ Cruiser feature but was soon under red in a wreck that took out almost half of the field. They went 4 wide into turn 3 and Duane Rees barrel rolled over 7 times. Rees was okay, but the car was totalled. Three other cars, Rod Summy, Neill Robison, and Joe Brown were done for the night also. Matt Gomez and Donnie Hawkins made trips into the pits and were back out on the track. On the restart it was Billy Faler, Josh Mohror, and Bob Schwab out front. Contact was made between Bob Schwab and Josh Mohror sending Mohror over in turns 3 and 4. He flipped the car over onto it's roof, then back onto the tires, and drove out. One lap later though a flat sent Mohror to the pits. Faler had the lead with Schwab in second and Matt Gomez in third. Schwab dropped out at lap 3, moving Gomez into second and Donnie Hawkins into third. Faler took the checkers with Gomez in second and Hawkins in third.

Hal Russell led flag-to-flag to pick up the late model feature win while being challenged from Ron Boyse and Jeff Guengerich the whole race. Jody Metgzer was in fifth place when he pulled a caution when he spun in turn 2 on lap 10, sending him to the back of the pack on the restart. Russell, Boyse, and Guengerich made up the top 3 on the restart and went on to finish in that order.

Darrin Ealey, Mike Cassabaum, and Michael Frank, II led the hobby stock feature before Frank, II spun in turns 3 and 4 collecting Craig Lamb. On the restart it's Ealey, Cassabaum, and Dustin Bliven when a couple of laps later Ealey and Cassabaum are side by side going into turn 3, Cassabaum went high in turn 4, and Bliven went low for second, but it didn't take long for Cassabaum to take second back. The next time around contact was made between Bliven and Cassabaum coming out of turn 2, sending Cassabaum around and into the grass. He was able to keep it going, avoiding a caution, but causing him to lose a lot of ground. Ealey went on to win the feature with Bliven in second, and Mike Rees in third.

Hot off a heat win Geoffrey Theobald quickly took the point in the 4 Cylinder feature and never looked back leading every lap to pick up his first feature win. Matt Duncan followed in second for the first few laps before 2004 Track Champion Wayne Noble secured the second position. Rookie Daniel Keltner followed Noble to take third. At the checkers it's Theobald with the win, Noble in second, and Keltner in third.
