TIPPS, TOMPKINS, PAYNE, GUENGERICH, AND SUMMY 2006 CJ RACEWAY SEASON CHAMPIONS

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IA. (Sept. 1, 2006) - Island Auto Season Championship Night at the CJ Raceway saw Brian Tipps in the 4 cylinders, Jeremy Tompkins in the hobby stocks, Tad Payne in the IMCA Stock, Jeff Guengerich in the late models, and Rod Summy in the CJ Cruisers wrap up their championships. Brian Tipps, Jeremy Tompkins, Aaron Summy, Jeff Guengerich, and Billy Faler all made repeat trips to victory lane.

Mark Winkel started the night with a 1 point lead over Jeremy Tompkins in the hobby stock division. Winkel was leading early on with Tompkins in second when on lap 5 Tompkins went low coming out of turn 2 for the lead, making it stick into turn 3. Three laps later Dustin Bliven had made his way from his back of the pack start to take second from Winkel. Tompkins and Bliven crossed the line bouncing off of each other with Tompkins leading by 1/2 a car. Tompkins took the feature win along with the season championship. Bliven took second with Winkel in third.

Brian Tipps started on the pole and led the entire 4 cylinder feature picking up his tenth win of the season and taking the point championship. Randy Foor followed in second throughout the race with Geoffrey Theobald in third.

Aaron Summy started outside first row and soon took the lead in the IMCA feature with Travis Finke in second before Finke had to put under a caution on lap 11 for a flat tire. Brandon Jay moved into second with Rod Staats in third. Todd Salazar, Patrick Mincer, and Cole Simmons brought out the caution ending the race on the white flag lap.
Summy takes the win, Jay takes second with Staats in third. Tad Payne takes the points championship.

Jeff Guengerich led the entire Pepsi late model feature with Hal Russell in second and Matt Bodman in third until lap 16 when Jay Chenoweth took over third. Guengerich took the feature win along with the championship. Russell took second and Chenoweth third.

Bob Schwab had the early lead in the CJ Cruiser feature with Billy Faler in second. On lap three Faler took the lead with Brett Timmerman following for second and pushing Schwab back to third. Faler held on for the feature win with Timmerman taking second and Darren Wilson third. Rod Summy is the point champion.
