Deery Series primed for first visit to Allison's Highway 3 Raceway

ALLISON, Ia (May 9, 2006) The fifth stop on the 2006 Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule will be the first ever at Highway 3 Raceway.

IMCA Sunoco Late Models following the 20th annual tour travel to Allison for a special midweek appearance Wednesday, May 24. The feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start.

"It's always good to add new tracks to the schedule, especially one so centrally located for a lot of series drivers," said Kevin Yoder, director of the tour for IMCA. łThis is a great opportunity for us to showcase the best Late Model racing in the Midwest at another track."

"Most of the drivers following this year's series haven't raced at Allison before," he added, "so this race should be pretty wide open."

Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. The evening's program also features non-sanctioned B modifieds and hobby stocks.

Entry fee for the Late Models is $50 and pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults, $6 for kids 6-12, and five and under are free with a paid adult.

More information about the Deery race at Allison is available by calling 319 267-9999 or 267-2546, or 267-9977 on race day.

Twenty-four drivers have competed at each of the first four races this season. Four time series champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo scored his career leading 46th Deery victory in the last event, on April 22 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, and tops the standings by three points over Rob Toland of Bettendorf.

Defending champ Terry Neal of Ely, Boone McLaughlin of Mediapolis and Jay Johnson of West Burlington round out the top five in points.

From Allison, the Deery Series returns to a much more familiar venue for the Memorial Day Super Nationals Warm-up at Boone Speedway.

The Monday, May 29 special marks the 26th series appearance at Boone. Sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks complete the card. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m.
