Deery Series opens April 7 at Hamilton County Speedway

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (March 30) – Opening night for the Deery Brothers Summer Series is just around the next turn, as the 21st annual tour for IMCA Sunoco Late Models travels to Hamilton County Speedway for Saturday, April 7 action.

Webster City also hosted Deery openers for the 2000-2002 series. The winner takes home a check for $2,000, with a minimum of $250 paid to make the main event starting grid.

Five-time and defending champion Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls owns six of his career leading 47 feature wins at the half-mile dirt oval.

Aikey earned the 2006 crown in the closest race in series history, by a single point over Bettendorf’s Rob Toland.

Terry Neal of Ely, Boone McLaughlin of Mediapolis and Greg Kastli of  Waterloo rounded out last season’s top five. Marshalltown’s Darrel DeFrance extended his perfect attendance record to 300 consecutive events while finishing sixth in the standings.

Pit gates at Webster City open at 12:30 p.m., with hot laps at 3:30 p.m. and racing to follow. Completing the race card are 360 modifieds and hobby stocks.

Grandstand admission is $14 for adults $14 and $10 for students ages 7-13, with kids six and under admitted free when accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25.

Seventeen dates are on the Deery schedule, with a doubleheader next on tap April 14 at 34 Raceway in West Burling ton and April 15 at Quincy, Ill., Raceway.
