Deery Series makes first ever visit to Park Jefferson;
17 dates set next season for IMCA Late Model tour

VINTON, Iowa (Dec. 12, 2006) – A first time visit to Park Jefferson Speedway high lights the 2007 Deery Brothers Summer Series.
The 17 dates on the tour for IMCA Sunoco Late Models feature the inaugural June 12 stop at the speed way in Jefferson, S.D., the first in series history to any South Dakota track.

“There was interest last year from Park Jefferson with regard to hosting a Deery show, but the season was already underway and we couldn’t make it work,” series director Kevin Yoder said. “The general consensus among drivers was that if it was in the initial schedule they would be excited to go. It is on the schedule and will make a nice double header with Buena Vista Raceway on the following evening.”

All feature events will pay a minimum of $2,000 to win and $250 to start.

Opening night is set for Saturday, April 7 at Hamil ton County Speedway in Webster City. Weather permitting, five more races are on tap before the start of the regular Late Model point season, at 34 Raceway in West Burling ton, Quincy, Ill., Raceway, Davenport Speedway, Jack son County Speedway in Maquoketa, and Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill.

May dates are at Allison’s Highway 3 Raceway and the traditional Memorial Day event at Boone Speed way.

In addition to Park Jefferson and Buena Vista Race way in Alta, the series trav els to Marshalltown Speed way in June, then to Independence Motor Speedway for an early July show.

Hawkeye Downs Speed way at Cedar Rapids hosts the annual ‘Dirt At The Downs’ outing on asphalt in August, followed by the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway date in Des Moines.

Deery drivers return to Quincy before taking center stage on opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals at Boone on Sept. 3.

The 21st annual series concludes with the traditional $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals at 34 Race way on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15.

Drivers with perfect attendance going into the Pepsi will be entered in the second annual J & J Steel Ironman Challenge and have the opportunity to add to their cash awards that week end.

Defending champion is Jeff Aikey, who collected his fifth career series championship in 2006.

The scoring system implemented this year will be used again next season, with feature wins good for 50 points and each following place finish one point less. Non qualifiers for the feature get 20 points.

“The 2007 schedule is pretty travel friendly,” commented Yoder. “With the support of J & J Steel through the Ironman Challenge, I anticipate great car counts and another out standing series next season.”
