QuickTime awards new for IMCA Modified, Stock Car drivers

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 1) – Ross McCombs had a better idea when it came to manufacturing bellhousings. As a result, even more IMCA drivers will benefit when points become official for the 2008 season.

McCombs’ QuickTime Inc. is a new sponsor for IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, with awards in store for top three finishers based on final regional standings.

Champions in each of the five Modified regions and both Stock Car regions receive bellhousing kits from the Oskaloosa, Iowa, high performance parts manufacturer and retailer.

Modified regional runners-up each earn a universal birdcage while second-place finishers in the Stock Car regions receive a battery box. Third-place drivers in both divisions get pull plates.

In addition, QuickTime will award $50 product certificates at 30 Modified and 20 Stock Car special events.

“I started racing and solving other people’s problems, and thought I had a better idea when it came to bellhousings,” said McCombs, who started QuickTime in 2000 and put his own Stock Car career on the shelf as the business moved into a 4,000 square foot facility, with five employees and a growing product line. “I wanted to become an IMCA sponsor to support racing and give something back to the drivers.”

McCombs is in charge of design and manufacturing while his wife Kim, “the brains behind it all,” oversees sales and marketing.

With a track record of 600 percent growth in 2005 and 400 percent in 2006, QuickTime offers 56 different models of bellhousings, shipping 150-200 units every week, as well as brackets, bird cages and flex plates.

“We’ve focused the last couple years on bellhousings. We can have a new model on the street in four weeks,” noted McCombs, who also works part-time for Musco Lighting. “We can put a steel bellhousing in your race car and in the truck you tow it to the track with.”

“QuickTime is a great fit for our Modifieds and Stock Cars, and their product giveaways will be great assets to drivers in both divisions,”
said IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “We have actually been awarding QuickTime-manufactured bellhousings for a few years at events like the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, so it is nice to have them on board in an official capacity in 2008.”
