2008 Deery Series opens with March 29-30 twinbill at Eagle Raceway

VINTON, Iowa (Dec. 14) – The earliest opening night in tour history takes the 2008 Deery Brothers Summer Series to Nebraska’s Eagle Raceway for a late March doubleheader.

Eighteen dates are currently on the calendar for the IMCA Sunoco Late Model tour next season, beginning with the March 29-30 twinbill at Eagle. The 22nd annual series concludes with the $10,000 to win Pepsi USA Nationals at 34 Raceway in West Burlington on Sept. 12-13.

“We’ve got a good mix of stops at traditional tour tracks and first-time visits to Eagle and later in the summer at Algona Raceway,” said Series Director Kevin Yoder. “We’re also looking forward to returning to Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for the first time since 2003. I think the schedule is very driver friendly and I expect the series to be extremely competitive again next season.”

Drivers will pay a single $50 entry fee for the two shows at Eagle, running for $1,000 to win on opening night and $2,000 to win in the second show. All other series features except the Pepsi pay $2,000 to win.

Other tracks hosting two series events in 2008 are 34, Quincy, Ill., Raceway, Highway 3 Raceway in Allison and Boone Speedway, the site of shows on Memorial Day and on opening night of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

In addition to Algona and Southern Iowa Speedway, the tour also travels to Davenport Speedway, Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa, Marshalltown Speedway, Independence Motor Speedway, Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids and the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines.

Jeremy Grady of Story City is the defending series champion.
