Two practice sessions precede April 4 opener at State Fairgrounds Speedway DES MOINES, Iowa (March 27) – A pair of open practice sessions are scheduled before the 2008 race season gets underway at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway. Practice runs from noon-8 p.m. Saturday, March 29 and from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 at the famed Des Moines half-mile. The first point races of the new season are Friday, April 4 for IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts. J & J Steel Late Models will make their first points appearance on April 25. Grandstand prices are $10 for 13 and older and $4 for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $20.
