CAR SHOW AND OPEN PRACTICE THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 1

Cedar Rapids, IA (March 27, 2006) - Area race fans will be treated to a free preview of the 2006 season this Saturday at the annual Hawkeye Downs Car Show .

In a change from previous seasons the car show will be staged in the pits at the speedway, with an added bonus. There will also be an open practice session after the car show allowing fans to see some of their favorite cars and drivers in action.

The car show, which is the official kick-off to the 81st season of action at Hawkeye Downs, will run from 10am-Noon on Saturday, April 1.

At Noon, the pits will be cleared and fans can move to the grandstand to observe practice. Cars that have passed technical inspection will be able to take to the track at 1pm with practice scheduled until 3pm.

The pits will reopen after practice, so fans can get one more chance too see their favorite cars and drivers.

Rain date for the car show is Sunday, April2.

The first regular night of racing for the 2006 season is Friday, April 28.
