ALL SIX CLASSES BACK IN ACTION THIS FRIDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 12, 2006) - After taking last Friday night off due to the Hawkeye Downs Fair, all six classes will be action this Friday night, June 16 as Landstar and KZIA/102.9 present “Safety Night.”


The Performance Concepts ASA Late Models, Miller Time Modifieds, Budweiser Sportsmen, and Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, which make up the Papa Johns Cup/I Wireless Stock Car Championship and the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks and Sunline Hornets that are part of the Full Throttle Energy Drink Stars of Tomorrow will all run a full program of racing.

The all important points races remain close in most divisions with Mid- Season Championships just one week away, Friday , June 23.

In Performance Concepts Late Models, Kyle Hinrichs and Scott Wennermark are tied for the lead, although Hinrichs does have one more win than
Wennermark. Jeff King sits ten points behind the co-leaders.

The Budweiser Sportsmen point chart shows Dave McCalla with a slim one point margin over Ross Zumbach. Andy Duggan and Martin Ballard are tied, just four points behind the leader McCalla.

Tim Plummer has the most comfortable lead in any of the half-mile divisions, holding a 15 point edge over Rodney Rocarek in the Miller Time Modifieds. Arlo Becker remains in the hunt as well 18 points back.

Brad Dvorak holds a two-point lead over Bob Ahrendsen in the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars. Randy Filling is just five points behind the leader Dvorak, in third.

Rodney Grother continues to rack up wins in the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, but still holds just a five-point cushion over Tim Dains in
the point chase. Terry Shaffar is six points behind Grother, in third.

Finally, the Sunline Hornets point leader, Nathan Ballard ,has built a somewhat safe margin in that division, 31 markers ahead of Derrick Beadle.

Grandstand Gates open and Practice start at 6pm with Racing at 7pm.
