LATE MODELS BACK IN ACTION THIS FRIDAY
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (July 31) - Racing resumes this Friday night at ASA-
Sanctioned Hawkeye Downs Speedway with seven divisions of racing on the quarter-
mile and half-mile tracks.
The Performance Concepts Late Models return for the third time this season and
will be joined by Miller Time Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA
Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, IMCA

Dudley Fleck of Cedar Rapids leads the “unofficial” points for the Performance
Concepts Late Models by virtue of his two feature wins so far this
season. Griffin McGrath, also of CR, is three points behind Fleck and Ken Reiser
of Waukon is in third, seven points behind the leader.
Tim Plummer continues to hold a very slim lead in the Miller Time Modifieds.
Plummer, of Norway, leads Chad Willet of Alburnett by just two
points. They each have three trips to Coca-Cola Victory Lane. Arlo Becker sits
eight points behind the leader in third.
In the Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Bob Ahrendsen of Cedar Rapids
continues to prove that consistency pays off as he leads the division by
seven points despite not having won a feature. Randy Filling of Toddville and
Kurt Bohnsack of Iowa City are tied for second in the standings.
Marion driver Tim Dains sits atop the chart in the Barron Motor Supply IMCA
Hobby Stocks with a somewhat comfortable nine point margin over Dennis
Klinsky of Ely. Rodney Grother of Cedar Rapids is in third.
Teammates Brian Beaty of Palo and Shaun Myers of Cedar Rapids are tied for the
lead in the Sunline Hornets. Beaty holds the edge in victories with
three to Myers one. Brad Chandler is in third.
The IMCA Sportmods also have two drivers tied for the lead as Tony Olson of
Cedar Rapids and Arnie Reif of Hiawatha each have 377 points and also
