VAN METER INDUSTRIAL NIGHT THIS FRIDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS
DONATIONS FOR AIMING FOR  A CURE/SPECIAL CELEBRITY LEGENDS RACE ON TAP

CEDAR RAPID, IA (May 19) - Cedar Rapids based Van Meter Industrial, an employee owned electrical wholesaler, presents racing at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this Friday night, May 21. All seven regular divisions will be competing for points in the Papa Johns Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series.

For the second straight year Van Meter Industrial will allow donations toward a designated charity to serve as admission for fans attending Friday night’s race. While there is a minimum donation of $1.00 fans are encouraged to donate what they can to help this year’s charity- The Aiming for a Cure Foundation. Aiming for a Cure helps Pediatric Oncology Patients and their families through funding research and patient care. For more information visit http://www.aimingforacure.com

As part of the evenings’ program, a special Legends Race featuring Van Meter Industrial President Barry Boyer, Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett, and WMT Radio Personality Bob Bruce is also scheduled.

Racing is also slated for Performance Concepts Late Models, Speed-e-Pan Sportsmen, Budweiser Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Coca-Cola IMCA SportMods, and Sunline Hornets.

The Front Gate opens at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:35 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:15pm with the first race at 7:30pm (note new start time for 2010).
