CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 16) - The fifth round of racing in the Papa Johns Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series takes the green flag this Friday night with seven divisions of racing action at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Also joining the seven regular divisions Friday night are the McGrath PowerSports INEX Legends.

Performance Concepts Late Models, Speed-e-Pan Sportsmen, and Budweiser Modifieds will battle on the Half-Mile while Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, Coca-Cola IMCA SportMods, and McGrath PowerSports Legends will compete on the Quarter-Mile.

This week the Lil’ Racer Car Club will hold BoxCar Races and kids also will have a chance to win Dad a great prize for Fathers Day. Prizes include Two Steaks, A round of Golf including Cart Rental for Two, and Two Tickets and a Parking Pass for this weekend’s Indy Lights Series and the Iowa Corn 250 IndyCar Race at Iowa Speedway in Newton. Kids should visit the booth under the Main Grandstand to sign up and get a ticket to win Dad a prize.

Friday night is also Progressive Beer Night. Not sure what that is? You’ll have to be at the track to find out.

The Cedar Valley Street Rods will also make an appearance Friday night and fans will want to make sure to check them out.

Don’t forget to visit Tavern on the Mall after the races to share a beverage with old friends and maybe even make some new friends while you sing a song or two with Cal’s Karaoke.

 The Front Gate opens at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:35 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies including the Hanford American Legion Post #5 Color Guard will begin at 7:15pm with the first race at 7:30pm.

Adult admission is still just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, and new for 2010-College Students are just $5 with a valid ID. Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
