MCGRATH AUTO GROUP/MCGRATH POWERSPORTS PRESENT EIGHT DIVISIONS OF RACING THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT HAWKEYE DOWNS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (August 4, 2010) -  Longtime Hawkeye Downs sponsor- The McGrath Auto Group along with INEX Legends division sponsor McGrath PowerSports present a very full night of racing at Hawkeye Downs this Friday night. The McGrath PowerSports INEX Legends will compete on the ¼ mile plus the seven regular Papa Johns Cup/I-Wireless Championship Series divisions will be action as well.

Performance Concepts Late Models, Speed-e-Pan Sportsmen, and Budweiser Modifieds will take to the fast Hawkeye Downs half-mile while Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars, Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks, Coca-Cola IMCA SportMods, and Sunline Hornets will mix it up on the quarter-mile along with the Legends.

The SportMods and Sportsmen will also run make-up features from last Friday night. Rain hit the speedway and scrubbed those two features.

Tim Plummer continues to lead in two half-mile divisions holding the top spot in Performance Concepts Late Models and Budweiser Modifieds.

Bob Ahrendsen is the current leader in Barron Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars while Nathan Ballard holds down the top position in Barron Motor Supply IMCA Hobby Stocks. Last week the Hobby Stock  division had a season-high 16 cars as the class continues to grow.

Dallas Chandler holds a narrow lead in Sunline Hornets with Bryce Bailey putting on the pressure in second.

Aric Becker holds the edge in Coca-Cola IMCA SportMods and Andy Duggan is at the top of the chart in Speed-e-Pan Sportsmen. As previously mentioned, both of those divisions will run double features Friday night.

The Cedar Valley Street Rods will also be on the grounds south of the Grandstand before the races with their cars on display.

The Front Gate opens at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:35 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies including the Hanford American Legion Post #5 Color Guard will begin at 7:15pm with the first race at 7:30pm.

Adult admission is still just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, and new for 2010-College Students are just $5 with a valid ID. Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
