Bells to promote Thayer County Speedway

Deshler, Neb. (April 3, 2006) Thayer County Speedway opens for the new race season on April 23 with brothers Greg and Lonnie Bell in charge of Sunday night shows.

IMCA will sanction the Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact classes at Deshler. Points races at the 3/8 mile clay track are scheduled through Aug. 27.

Lonnie will oversee the grandstand and concession side of the business while Greg heads the track preparation and pitside operations. Terry Cripe will be the pit steward.

"We like the national sets of rules and the fact that IMCA will be there to help whenever we need it," Greg said. ³There are a lot of area drivers in the IMCA classes and the Sport Compacts will bring in new drivers. I think the class will be successful because of its dollar value."

The racing surface at Deshler was prepared last fall and will be smoothed out this spring. Some rearranging with parking and the tech area may also be done before opening night.

No special events are on their 2006 schedule but the Bells are looking at a special following the weekly point season.
Thayer County is part of IMCA's Central Region for Modifieds anrn fe Jet Racing Northern Region for Stock Cars.
