Ten best finishes determine championship of IMCA Modified Blood, Sweat and Tears series

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (Feb. 23) – Twenty-four dates are on the initial schedule for the Blood, Sweat and Tears Series for IMCA Modifieds.

Drivers’ 10 best finishes will be used in determining final standings for the tour, sanctioned by IMCA for the second consecutive season. Each feature will pay $700-$1,000 to win, with a $3,000 point fund to be paid out to the top 10 drivers in points. The champion also earns 20 bonus points figured toward national and regional standings. The series will travel to 11 different tracks in four states.

“We’ve worked hard with area promoters in setting dates that allow drivers to get at least 10 series races in and continue to support their home tracks on a weekly basis,” Tour Director Joe Bellm said. “Along with IMCA special series contingency awards, there will be new contingency awards given on a weekly basis throughout the series.”

Kansas speedplants on the BST itinerary include Decatur County Speedway at Oberlin, Jetmore Motorplex, Rolling Plains Motor Speedway at Hays, Sherman County Speedway at Goodland, Thomas County Speedway at Colby and WaKeeney Speedway.

Tracks in Wyoming are Ripple Ridge Raceway at Rawlins and Gillette Thunder Speedway. Nebraska dates are scheduled at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte and Dawson County Raceway in Lexington. Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, Colo., hosts a pair of series shows.

IMCA national, Central or Western region, and Smiley’s Racing Products state points will be given at all events.

The series points leader following the Aug. 22-23 twinbill at Ripple Ridge becomes eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Ron Efkamp Memorial Race of Champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals, while the tour champion will be added to the ballot for the 2009 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
