Nearly 80 Modifieds already entered for Beatrice Spring Nationals special

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 5) – IMCA Modified drivers from as far west as Utah and as far east as Michigan will converge at Beatrice Speedway for the March 14-16 Spring Nationals.

With more than a week to go before opening night, nearly 80 of the open wheeled competitors from 11 states are already pre-registered for the 15th annual special.

“We are thrilled with our pre-entry numbers. We have a goal of 100 Modifieds and all signs point that direction right now,” promoter Toby Kruse said. “The format change has been to the liking of many drivers and we hope to send each of them home with a little more money.”

Feature events are on tap all three nights for the Modifieds, paying $1,000 to win on Friday, $1,500 to win on Saturday and $2,000 to win on Saturday, making all three races qualifiers for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

All Modified drivers are guaranteed $75 a day in tow money; IMCA national, Central Region and Smiley’s Racing Products State points will be awarded each night.

“I think the format change from a single main event to three feature races is extremely popular, as drivers chase early season points and spots on the All-Star ballot,” said IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “Spring Nationals traditionally kicks off the new season for many racers in northern states and with Toby taking over as promoter, I anticipate this year’s event being the start of a very successful season at Beatrice.”

Early entries also include 24 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, 13 IMCA Sport Compacts and 11 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.

Saturday’s Northern SportMod feature pays $500 to win. The Hobby Stock feature on Sunday also pays $500 to win.

Top prize in Sunday’s Sport Compact main event is $200.
