Early start time announced for Benton County’s Hogan Memorial

VINTON, Iowa (June 18) – Sunday’s Hogan Memorial special for IMCA Modifieds at Benton County Speedway will begin an hour earlier than previously announced.

Pit gates at Vinton open at 3 p.m., with hot laps at 4:30 p.m. and racing to follow.

NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie Landon Cassill will join the Modified field for a feature that pays $1,200 to win, with an additional $50 going to the driver scored in the lead on each of the 25 laps. The winner will be added to the ballot for the 2009 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.

Also on the June 22 mid-season championship night card are Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.

The program was postponed from June 15 because of flooding and the loss of electrical power at the fairgrounds.

Drivers and fans are again reminded that Highway 150 is closed on the north side of Vinton because of flood damage and that an alternate route may be needed to get to the track.
