Irvine takes top opening night Stock Car Shootout prize

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 30) – Brian Irvine picked up a bookend trophy, on opening night of the IMCA American Stock Car Shootout special.

The 2005 race winner from Oelwein caught long-time leader Rick Brown and stayed in front the rest of the way for the $1,250 victory Monday evening at Marshalltown Speedway. Other IMCA winners were Andy Boeckman of Lake View in the Hobby Stocks and Kevin Sather of Ankeny in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods.

Brown set the early pace from his outside row one starting spot.
Irvine made his way up from the fourth row, taking the lead and then the checkers ahead of Luke Veren, Dusty Vis, Brian Blessington and Jeff Mueller.

Boeckman had to make his way to the front from 14th on the starting grid. Chris Luloff ran in front most of the way, then exited with a flat tire shortly after Boeckman drove by enroute to the $500 victory.
