GM crate engine bonuses total $18,500 for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers

GRAND BLANC, Mich. (Nov. 5) – A hefty $18,500 in bonuses from GM Performance Parts will be paid to IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers who competed with crate engines during the 2008 race season.

Fifty-one different drivers from 21 sanctioned tracks will get GM checks during the national IMCA awards banquet on Nov. 29, or in the mail in early December.

Bonuses totaling $12,850 were paid to 32 drivers from 15 tracks last year.

“The GM program has grown considerably each year it has been in place and with the number of tracks now sanctioning the division it will continue to grow,” noted IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder.
“Northern SportMod drivers must be aware that filling out the contingency sign-up form located in their drivers packets and on our website are crucial in making themselves eligible for the GM bonuses.”

The top crate engine driver in point standings at each track sanctioning Northern SportMods earned $500, with $250 for second, $150 for third and $50 for fourth and fifth. Drivers must have participated at half of a track’s weekly events with a crate engine to be eligible.
