IMCA Manufacturers’ Cup competition renewed for 2010

VINTON, Iowa (Jan. 21) – Modified chassis builders compete for top honors again this season in IMCA’s Manufacturers’ Cup program.

As in the inaugural 2009 contest, points will be awarded for each of the top 10 finishing cars (10 points for first, nine points for second, etc.) in each of the five IMCA Modified regions built by participating manufacturers.

Top 10 point totals will determine ButlerBuilt Western, Central, South Central, North Central and Eastern regional manufacturers of the year; points from all five regions will then be combined in crowning the national winner.

Along with a $500 check, the top manufacturer in overall points will receive an award during the national IMCA banquet in November.

Builders must sign up for the Manufacturers’ Cup program by Thursday, April 1.

“The first year of this program was very successful, based on the fact each region had a different winner and a dozen different participating manufacturers had cars finish in the top 10 in one or more regions,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “For the value generated, this is a great program. Drivers can certainly encourage their builder to be involved if they weren’t in 2009.”

Belleville Motorsports earned national and Eastern Region Manufacturers’ Cup awards last season.

Other regional winners included Larry Shaw Race Cars in the West; Victory Chassis, North Central; Jet Racing, Central; and Taylor Chassis, South Central.

Also entered were Allen Autosports, Big Dog Chassis, Billsbuilt Race Cars, Evolution Motorsports, GRT Race Cars, Harris Auto Racing, Hoffman Race Cars, Hot Chassis, Sharp Racing Products and Skyrocket Chassis.

All builders entered in the 2010 program will be listed in the monthly IMCA newsletter. Participation also includes the opportunity to advertise in Inside IMCA and display a chassis on manufacturers’ row during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

Dirthead will again give wall graphics to drivers finishing in the top 10 in point standings for their region and their respective registered builders.
