Davenport Speedway kicks off Deery Brothers Tripleheader 

DAVENPORT, Ia. (April 9, 2010) – When the Deery Brothers Summer Series makes their annual visit to the Davenport Speedway Friday, April 16th, it will start the only tripleheader weekend on the series’ 2010 schedule.

The traveling series for IMCA Late Models will be making its 16th appearance at the Davenport Speedway.  The series first visited the Davenport speedplant in 1987.

Twelve different drivers have captured Deery Brothers wins at Davenport. Jeff Aikey of Waterloo has four victories at Davenport and is the only driver to be a repeat winner.

Last year’s winner was Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill. Sixty-one late models competed in last year’s race.

The Davenport race is the first part of a scheduled tripleheader weekend for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Saturday (April 17)  the tour stops at the Jackson County Speedway in Maquoketa and Sunday (April 18) at Dubuque Speedway. All three main events pay $2,000 to win.

Also racing at the Deery Brothers at Davenport will be Pro Mods, Street Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, and 4 Stocks. The event is sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Pit gates at Davenport open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5pm. Hot laps are at 6pm and racing starts at 6:30pm.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport.
