Pershy and Veloz Pick Up First Quad City Wins
by Ed Potter

EAST MOLINE, IL (July 30, 2006) - Pole sitter, Jimmy Comins Jr took the early lead of the B Modified feature Sunday at Quad City Speedway when the caution flew at lap two. On the restart first heat winner, Brad Pershy charged out front with Craig Crawford and Mitch Morris in hot pursuit. Despite three more cautions Pershy was not giving up as he went on for his first Quad City win this year. Crawford held on for second with Morris third; Greg Durbin took fourth with Natan Hall fifth. Jason Bielema won the other heat.

Coming from his third place starting spot, Mike Zemo Jr grabbed the lead of the Open Wheel Modified feature and held it until lap eleven. On lap eleven second heat winner, Milo Veloz Jr took over the point, Jeff Morris moved into second on lap thirteen, but couldn't quite catch Veloz. Veloz took his first Quad City win of the season with Morris second. On the white flag lap first heat winner, Doug Crampton moved in to take third with Zemo holding on for fourth. Brandon Durbin was fifth.

Pole sitter, Chuck Fox lead the first lap of the Street Stock feature with first heat winner, Dustin Spicer taking over on lap two. Dave Wadsager moved out front on lap eight, but it was short held as on an eleventh lap restart Wadsager was forced to the pit area with mechanical problems, not involved in the caution. With a double front row restart of Randy Exline and Matt Werner, Exline took control and went on for his fourth win of the season with three in a row. One of the three was not a point race as it was the Fair race. Werner held on for second with third heat winner, Korey Peterson third, Buck Harmening fourth and Chris Lawrence fifth. Chris Hambright won the other heat.

Third place starter, Jason Parrish charged out front to lead the first lap of the IMCA Late Model feature with second heat winner, Rick Wages taking over on lap two. At lap nine first heat winner, Ray Guss Jr edged out front when the first of two cautons flew. On the restart Guss stayed in control with Wages, Eric Gustaf and Rob Toland hot on his tail. Guss held off all challengers to go on and take his second feature win in a row. Eric Gustaf was second with Toland third. Wages held on for fourth with Fred Remley coming from his nineteenth starting spot to take fifth. Adam Oppendike won the other heat.
