Wadsager Picks Up His First Ever Feature as Wilson Gets His First of the Season

EAST MOLINE, ILL. (Aug. 20, 2006) - It was great to have co-announcer Shane Davis back at the Quad City Speedway Sunday after his recent heart attack. and he was kept busy on a great night for racing. During intermission the class sponsors were honored in a short ceremony by Kevin Feller. The J&J Camper Street Stock feature had Rick Schriner use his pole starting spot to take the early lead with Toby Spicer taking over on lap three. Lap seven the caution flew as three cars piled up between turns one and two with Andrew Burk getting up on the wall and rolling his car. Burk was OK and the race continiud on with four more cautions before it was over. On the white flag lap Dave Wadsager edged out front and the caution flew before the cars could get around for the checkers for a car spun in turn four. The race was called over with Wadsager getting his first ever feature win. Spicer was a close second with Schriner holding on for third. Last weeks winner, Matt Werner took fourth with Rob Henry fifth. Randy Exline and Spicer took the heat wins.


Pole sitter, Bob Stogdell led the first lap of the IITI-Reynolds Ford A Modifed feature with second heat winner, Jordan Schram taking over on lap two. On lap three Milo Veloz Jr charged out front with Donovan Lodge, Thad Wilson and Doug Crampton in hot pursuit. An eighteenth lap caution for a car against the wall in turn four saw Veloz coast to a stop on the front chute with engine probllems. With two laps to go the restart was double file with Wilson and Lodge on the front row. First heat winner, Wilson led the final two laps for his first win of the ever shortening season. Lodge was second with Crampton third. Shaune Lewis took fourth over Brandon Durbin. Jim Willert won the other heat.


After the caution flew before a lap was scored in the Best Choice-Racer's Edge B Modified feature fourth place starter and third heat winner, Natan Hll took the point and held it until lap six when eleventh place starter and first heat winner, Jake Waterman took over. This race was also called over after the white flag lap due to a cautin involving four cars in turns three and four. Waterman took his sixth Quad City win of the season with Hall holding on for second. Jason Bielema was third followed by Kevin Dickey and Doug Curless, In that order. George Hubbard won the other heat.


The IMCA Late Model twenty-five lap feature had only one caution after lap one, that sent the point leader, Eric Gustaf to the pits, with third place starter, Mark Preston leading. Preston held off all comers until lap nineteen when Ray Guss Jr took over the point. Guss went on for his third Quad City Speedway victory of the year with Mike Cothron taking second over twelth place starter, Fred Remley's third. Preston held on for fourth with Rick Wages fifth. The heat wins went to Jeff Morris, Mike Murphy Jr and Kevin Blum.
