QUAD CITY DIRT TRACK AWARDS Set to Go Saturday

MOLINE, ILL (Jan. 7, 2007) - Honors to local stock car drivers will be presented at the QUAD CITY DIRT TRACK AWARDS Saturday, January 13th, 2007. The event will be held at Fargo Dance and Sports, on 23rd Avenue in Moline.

Awards given on the evening will include the QUAD CITIES RACING CONNECTION Driver’s Choice Awards and Racing OSCAR’s, the RCTV Rookie of the Year Award, and the “Around the Track” Tod Brinkman Award.

In addition, the top five finalists for the QCRC Weedon Award will be announced. The winner of the Weedon Award will be announced at the Quad Cities Racing Industry Show, Febraury 3rd, at the QCCA Expo center in Rock Island.

The winners of the QCRC Driver’s Choice Awards, are as the name implies, voted by local racers themselves. The 2006 winners of the QCRC Driver’s Choice Awards are:

Late Model - Eric Gustaf
Open Wheel - Jerry Connors
Street Stock - Randy Exline
B-Modifieds - Mitch Morris
4 - Cylinder - Josh Starr
Mod Lite - Jeff Norton

The racing OSCARs are given for Outstanding Support or Contribution to Auto Racing. Traditionally, the OSCAR’s have gone to race officials, members of the media, sponsors, and others that work behind the scenes to make local racing successful.

QUAD CITIES RACING CONNECTION is pleased to announce that the winners of the 2006 OSCARs are: Mr. Shane Davis (announcer) and Mr. Dan Norton (tech inspector). Their many years of commitment and service to local racing makes both of these gentlemen qualified for this honor.

RCTV Rookie of the Year Award, and the “Around the Track” Tod Brinkman Award winners will be named at the event.

The event is open to the public. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the award ceremony starting at 7:30pm. There is no charge for admission, but donations for Speedway Fire Rescue will be accepted at the door.

The QUAD CITIES RACING CONNECTION is a local stock car racing magazine covering 10 tracks in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Racing Connection Television, which can be seen on Mediacom Channel 19, carries local racing action. The “Around the Track” radio show can be heard on 1170AM and is hosted by Steve Donovan.
