Macomb Raceway moving rapidly toward Opening Night

MACOMB, Ill. (March 23, 2007) -  It has been a hectic month of scheduling for the new management of Macomb Raceway, formerly Macomb Speedway, in Macomb, Illinois.

Several items have been verified for the upcoming 2007 racing season, which will begin May 5.

A sanctioning contract has been signed and approved with U.M.P. for U.M.P. Late Models, U.M.P. Street Stocks and U.M.P. 4-Cylinders. While Macomb Raceway had hoped to sanction Modifieds as well, the facility lies just a few miles to close to Spoon River Speedway, which currently hosts U.M.P. Modifieds.
Three non-sanctioned events have also been marked on the schedule, including the Monte Strader Memorial race, May 27, which will be $1,000 to win and $200 to start for Pepsi Modifieds. Also running May 27, will be TQs, which will also be running for special purse yet to be determined, 1200 Mini Sprints, Dwarf Cars and U.M.P. 4-Cylinders.

The second special event of 2007 will be Go-Karts taking to the 1/5 mile oval on Sunday, May 20. Purse and registration information will be made available within the next two weeks. There are also plans for a fall Go-Kart event to be held in mid to late September.
July 3 marks the biggest and final currently scheduled special racing event, when Macomb Raceway will host a $1,000 to win, $200 to start 4-cylinder event. The event will not be U.M.P. sanctioned, but will run on Macomb Raceway track rules.

Check out www.macombraceway.com  regularly for updates and announcements regarding these specials and future updates.

U.M.P. Late Models
Late Model guaranteed payouts have been updated and improved! For nine or more cars Macomb Raceway will guarantee $100 to start. Check out the new pay scale for the U.M.P. Late Models at the track’s website. It is listed under the schedule.

Pit Stalls
A map of pit stalls has also been placed on the website, with open slots numbered. Anyone interested in securing a pit stall can check out the map on the website and e-mail Dewain Hulett at promoter@macombraceway.com.

U.M.P. Street Stocks
Questions have been raised about the 500 CFM Holley 4412 that is mandatory for the class. It should be understood that no boring will be allowed to the carburetor! Boring will increase the CFM of the stock assembly, which would make the carburetor illegal.
Scheduling Change!!

The Mid-Season Championship has been moved from June 23 to June 30. The scheduled night off of weekly racing will be taken on June 23, at which time the track will host its first Object Destruction event. The evening will include a boat trailer race, with other events to be added very soon. Check out the website for more information.
