Wilson Wins 1st Annual Frostbuster!!!

ALEDO, IL (April 1) - Aledo Raceway Park opened up the 2007 racing season in the Quad City area with running of the 1st Annual Frostbuster as part of the new Topless Modified Shootout Series. Originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but due to wet weather the race was run Monday night with A-Modifieds, Mod Lites, 4 Cylinders, and Cruisers competing.

A-Modifieds were the main event of the night, featuring a 30 lap finale. Some real heavy hitters from the Midwest area pulled into the pit to try to take home the $1000 to win. The feature took few yellow flags before it got under way, but when it did Thad Wilson in the #75 from his pole position jumped out to a big lead and checked out before the next caution after 11 laps were completed. During those 11 laps the #32 of Donovan Lodge went from 14th to 2nd and looked like the man to beat. After the next restart Jeff Morris in the #86 and Doug Crampton in the #40 began moving quickly through the field too. After the last restart Thad Wilson was able to build a good size lead and hold off Donovan Lodge and win the 1st Annual Frostbuster. As Thad Wilson got out of his car to celebrate, the first thing he said was, “And I didn’t even cut my tires!” When asked about the track Thad said, “I was surprised how good it was considering the weather we had and it was fast too”. Thad didn’t seem concerned about Donovan Lodge coming up on him either, “I wasn’t worried…just kept my line.” The rest of the top 5 was Jeff Morris, Doug Crampton, and John Bull.

Support class features went to Greg Rossell in the #77 Mod Lite, Joe Zrostlik in the #Z50 4 Cylinder, and Josh Starr in the #2 Cruiser.
