APRIL SHOWERS BRING MACON SPEEDWAY CANCELLATION

MACON, IL (April 14) - On the first three race dates of its 2007 season calendar, Macon Speedway has been subjected to a thunderstorm, frigid temperatures, and today a rain/snow mix. The spring storm that has wreaked havoc with much of the Midwest carrying with it a variety of weather conditions has forced Macon Speedway to once again cancel its Saturday night racing program.

“This is a major disappointment. Macon Speedway is ready for racing and we can’t wait for everyone to see just how great our shows will be,” states promoter Bob Sargent. “We are looking forward to some nice spring weather next weekend to finally get this season off and running.”

Ticket stubs and wrist bands from the March 31 program will still be “rain-checks” for admission on April 21. Kids Easter Fun originally scheduled for April 7 will be postponed again to the April 21 show. Kids will be treated to a belated visit by the Easter Bunny, candy and prizes including bicycles. Macon Speedway’s high-action weekly racing features five U.M.P. divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock, and Hornets plus the C.A.R.S. Crate Late Models.

Racers and fans can look forward to Driver-Sponsor Appreciation Night on April 28 complete with a Fan Autograph and Photo session. Racers can contact the Speedway office to order discounted tickets to treat their sponsors. Fans will get a special time to meet their favorite drivers, take pictures and collect autographs.
Advanced reserved seat tickets for all three NASCAR Nights will go on sale May 1. Adult tickets are $25 and children 12 and under are $5. Call 217-764-3000 to place your order.

May 5 will be a special Cinco De Mayo Celebration and the first of Kenny’s Krazy Kar Kapers. One lucky fan will win a previously-owned Chevrolet sponsored by Ewing Auto Sales. May 5 will also be the first official night of Kids Club activities at Macon Speedway.

NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.

Macon Speedway – racing every Saturday Night – is proud to be part of the $100,000 Contingency Connection program for the 2007 season. Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.
