Two in a Row for Rob Toland

EAST MOLINE, IL (May 6) - With rain threatening in the area 70 plus cars still packed the pits at Quad City Raceway for the second night of points racing in ’07. The night started off with an added bonus. The #00 modified of the late Ronnie Weedon was at the track to carry the red, white, and blue during that national anthem.

The Best Choice Market / Racers Edge B-Modifieds ran their heat races first with Kevin Dickey in the #42 taking heat one and #15 of Brad Pershy winning heat two.
The Fields of Pizza Street Stocks took to the track next. Aaron Burroughs in the #68A won the first heat and last week’s feature winner Dave Wadsager in the #16 won the second heat.

The A-Modifieds were next to the track with three heat races. Friday night’s feature winner at Davenport, Thad Wilson in the #75, took heat one. Doug Crampton in the #40 won heat number two and the #17 of Jason Pershy won heat three.

The Builders World IMCA Late Models hit the track next. Eric Gustaf in the #90 picked off the first heat, the 7 of Andy Nezworski took heat two, and Adam Oppendike won the third heat in the #29.

The Stout Distributing 4 Cylinders ran their heat last with the #D26 of Wade Dahl taking the win.

It was now feature time and the Best Choice Meat Market / Racers Edge B-Modifieds were up first. The race started off with a big pile up in the turn one. After that was sorted out there were 4 more cautions and the race ended under yellow and checkered. The #88J of Jerry Bailey Jr. took home the victory followed by the #3 of A.J. Pappas and the #21 of Jared Coppejans.

The Fields of Pizza Street Stocks were next on the card. Last week’s feature winner Dave Wadsager in the #16 drew the pole position for the feature and at the drop of the green looked like he was going to do it again. On the lap 3 though Wadsager got loose in turns 1 and 2 and brought out the yellow. On the restart the #8 of Rick Schriner and the #68A of Aaron Burroughs started battling it out for first. Schriner was running low and Burroughs was running high. Going down the backstretch they were trading paint and Schriner was able to pull ahead and Burroughs slowed with a flat tire. Rob Henry in the #00 tried to make a run at Schriner but wasn’t able to catch the #8. Schriner took first followed by Henry in the #00 and Burroughs in the #68A.

The A-Modifieds took to the track for their feature next. Right when the green flag waved Kevin Blum in #1 and Milo Veloz Jr. in #43 began their fight for first. Blum was right around the bottom and Veloz was right next to him running the middle line around the track. The #75 of Thad Wilson was right on their bumpers and eventually got around the Veloz. Then Blum started to pull away from the pack as Wilson and Veloz ran side by side for second. Blum began slicing and dicing through lapped traffic and Wilson started pulling away from Veloz but couldn’t catch the #1. Blum would take home the win followed by Wilson and then Veloz.

The Builders World IMCA Late Models were up next. Right when the green flag came out Rob Toland, in the #39, was off like a Rocket. Jason Bahrs in the #6 was able to get around Ron Gustaf in the #90X and pull away from the field with R. Toland. Ron Gustaf and Shawn Mulvany, in the #70, put on a great show for third going side by side for many laps. During the last few laps R. Toland was slowed by lapped traffic and Bahrs was able to gain on him but it was too little too late. Rob Toland brought home the victory for the second week in a row. Bahrs came home second followed by Mulvany.

The Stout Distributing 4 Cylinders were the last race of night and the #D26 of Wade Dahl was the man to beat. Dahl was never really challenge and dominated the feature to take home the first place prize. Todd Sibley in the #125 took second with the #17M of Mike Morrow in third.
