Johnson takes TQ win at Macomb Raceway Pratt gets another
Modified checker, Mother Nature takes two
MACOMB, Ill. (June 2, 2007) - After a pair of rainouts the week before, Mother
Nature again waived her magic wand to knock out of a pair of features at Macomb
Raceway Saturday night.
The Macomb Journal UMP 4-Cylinder and Late Model features will be ran at the
beginning of the night this Saturday, as make-up events. The Macomb Journal UMP
4-Cylinders were on the track when the rains came Saturday.
Before the rains came, however, there was plenty great racing action the fast
and smooth 1/5 racing surface.
Zach Johnson, of Monmouth, made a return to the raceway and picked up his second
IMRA TQ feature win of the season. Johnson led a pair of newcomers to the track
for the season across the line. Steve Foster and Randy Huddleston, both driving
600s took second and third respectively, while two-time feature winner Tracey
Hull took the fourth spot.
It was Chad Pratt who continues to dominate the field in the Macomb Auto Parts
Modifieds, as he picked up another victory. He led every lap, but not without a
lot of pressure from second place finisher Shane Lewis. For Lewis it was his
best finish of the year. Lewis appeared to be faster than Pratt in turns three
and four, but slower in one and two. Todd Cummings in his first night to the
raceway this season took home the third spot, while David Wietholder recovered
from an early race spin to finish fourth. Russ Coultas rounded out the top five.
Randy Madsen took advantage of some late race cautions to pick up his first
Casey?s General Store UMP Street Stock feature win. It was a night of season
best finishes actually, as Scott Barker, in second, and Sara McGlasson, in
third, each had their best finishes of the season. Rudy Olberg was fourth and
Andy Gillette, in his first night out, finished fifth.
The car count for the Ron Elbe Auto Sales Dwarf Cars/Mod Lites was down a little
but the racing was still solid. Justin Buchholz picked up his third win of the
season, while David Norton ran a solid second place. It was first time Macomb
Raceway attendee Scott Spink who too the third spot, while Jeff Norton was
fourth and Rob Guss fifth. June 9 is Islands Bar and Grill Night and Beach
attire night. If fans where beach attire they will receive $2 off their
admission. Islands Bar and Grill will be giving away water guns and a lot of
other prizes. Also, as a reminder, this week?s Macomb Journal UMP 4-Cylinder and
the Late Model features will be made up at the start of the night?s racing
activities.
