FARMER CITY, IL (Aug 17) - The Dennis Erb Jr 'In Control' tour once again rolled on Friday night at Farmer City Raceway with yet another win. It has been said "To be the man, you have to beat the man!"

The man that Erb Jr has to beat to possibly become UMP National Champion is currently Wes Steidinger. Erb Jr started off with the early lead in the feature, only to have Steidinger pull alongside and pass Erb about six laps into the race. The duo would then run about ten laps side by side, swapping the lead as many as four times a lap. Erb Jr came out on top, with Steidinger second, Daren Friedman third, Chris Dick fourth and Derek Chandler fifth. There were no cautions in the 25 lap event.

Fast time for the 24 late models on hand went to Eric Smith at 12.573 seconds. Heat races went to Don Cisco III over Donnie Walden in a race that Cisco only led about the last 12 inches with Rocky Griffin third and Eric Smith fourth. The second heat was a preview of the feature with Erb Jr running away from the field, Steidinger second, Scott Bull third and Chris Dick fourth. The final heat saw Derek Chandler win over Daren Friedman, Russ Adams and Joe Harlan. The semi feature went to Tim Lance over Lisa Shickel.

unofficial feature finish:
28 Dennis Erb Jr
J1 Wes Steidinger
89 Daren Friedman
22 Chris Dick
35 Derek Chandler
9 Eric Smith
74 Russ Adams
48 Tim Lance
Z Joe Harlan
DC3 Don Cisco III
83 Scott Bull
30 Mike Glasscock

Scott Bull is currently leading the local track points over Eric Smith by 11 points with only two more points nights left. Friday August 24 will be a full show plus a powder puff derby, and August 31 will be the Farmer City 50, a 50 lap, $5000 to win for the late models.

The sportsman feature was a caution filled event, with the youngster Justin DeLong holding on for the win over Greg Kimmons, Al Crowder, Timmy Dick, Rob Bauman, and Nick Macklin.

The street stock class saw the heats go to Terry Miller over Jim Quinn by inches at the checkers, and Troy Dodson over Jesse Simmons. The feature was another heated affair, with the win going to Troy Dodson, just holding off Jim Quinn, Greg Rubenacker, Terry Miller, Jesse Simmons, Josh Griffith and Darrell Lehigh.
The modified class saw Lance Dehm come close to his own track record, with a time of 14.096 seconds. The first heat went to Lance Dehm over Denny Schwartz and Gary Cook Jr. The second heat went to Jeff Leka over Danny Schwartz and Jeffrey Curl. The third heat went to Erik Bruce over Cory Schwengel and Wes O'Dell. The semi feature went to Tim Baker over Joel Funk Jr and Darcey Wey. The feature event started like most modified features this year, with Jeff Leka taking the early lead. Then Denny and Danny Schwartz started challenging him. Denny Schwartz then fell off the pace, and at the same time, Erik Bruce came on, passed Leka and held him off for the win. Leka would finish second, with Danny Schwartz third, Lance Dehm fourth, Cory Schwengel, Randy Huffman and Jeffrey Curl rounding out the top seven finishers.

The hornet class was a special $300 to win Bruce Ring Memorial race. Heats went to Eric Wilson over Eric Keymon, Jonathan Scott over Chris Burton, and Joe Reed over Jason Sherell. Scott Dodsey won the semi feature. The feature winner of the beginners class went to 25 year racing veteran Joe Reed, barely holding off Eric Keymon, with Scott Van Oppen, Ryan Wetter and Chris Burton rounding out the top five.
