MACON SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES AMATEUR HORNET CLASS WILL RACE AT MACON SPEEDWAY

MACON, IL (April 9) - Macon Speedway proudly announces that there will be a new class in town on Saturday nights to thrill and entertain the fans of Macon Speedway, the amateur hornet division. On April 19, 2008 Macon Speedway will host its newest division of cars for an action packed night of racing. The hornet division will now be divided into two separate classes; pro hornets and amateur hornets. The new hornet divisions will add to the other classes that race weekly at Macon Speedway which includes: UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks and UMP Sportsman.

Both hornet divisions will abide by the same 2008 Macon Speedway rules, but the new amateur class will have a few added rules imposed upon them. Hornet drivers may choose in which class to race but if an amateur driver wins 10 feature races at Macon Speedway they must move up to the pro hornet division. The amateur hornets must be painted red or yellow, have a working horn and have a center brake light. Macon Speedway will give the amateur hornets a few extra weeks to get their hornets new paint schemes ready and will not enforce the paint rule until June 7 at which time they will have to start the race at the tail end if they are not painted properly.

Macon Speedway is anxiously awaiting the new hornet classes. The owners believe that this will ensure a fun and action packed night for both the drivers and the fans.

Also on April 19, the fans will get to obtain their favorite driver’s autograph at the driver-sponsor appreciation night. Next up on Macon Speedway’s schedule will be the POWRi Midgets & Micros on April 26.

Fans won’t want to miss any of the action at Macon Speedway with a full summer of hot weekly racing action every Saturday night combined with an exciting mix of special events – both new and traditional.
