MACON, IL (June 1) - Sunday night's racing was marked by the appearance of NASCAR star Ken Schrader and the Northern All Stars Late Model Series. Some wet mid-afternoon weather delayed the beginning of events, but that didn't stop the crowd from packing the stands to their limit. Two lucky fans got to take a few laps with two great North All Stars. Kary Carter got to ride shotgun in a Late Model with Jason Feger at the wheel and Joshua Crawford got a chance to turn the track with former Herald and Review 100 winner Kevin Weaver.

All the way from Canada, Steve Arpin won himself a 20 lap Modified feature at Macon Speedway on his first try. Arpin baffled the competition by running a line no one had seen at Macon in a long time. Arpin when low into turn three and drove high toward the wall in four. Jeff Leka could never quite make the pass even though it looked like Arpin was opening the door on every lap.

"This is a beautiful track. I didn't think I mind could work fast enough to turn so many times so fast." Arpin said.

Arpin was in town to run a $5,000 to win modified race in Danville when his father was hospitalized in Indianapolis. With his father recovering from quintuple bypass surgery, Arpin has been racing his way around the Midwest including a feature win at Paducah Intl. Raceway on Friday.

Dennis Erb Jr. won himself a nice $6,000 prize for winning race number two of the Tri-Track Challenge. Erb Jr. started on the front row and never looked back. Erb Jr. can now earn himself a $10,000 bonus if he wins the rescheduled third race of the Tri-Track challenge to be held at I-55 Raceway. Ken Schrader won the first Tri-Track race on Friday at Paducah Intl. Raceway.

Decatur's Kevin Weaver worked his way up as far as second but didn't have nearly enough speed to challenge the leader. Third place finisher Brian Shirley earned his spot by winning the semi-feature race.

Racing ground to a halt with four laps left when Ryan Dauber's car stopped dead on the track and gallons of fuel poured onto the front stretch. Dauber escaped what could've been a disaster as track crews hurried to push his car off the growing pool of racing fuel.

Terry Miller pulled out a feature win in the Street Stocks. Miller had a good lead on the field through most of the race. Terry Reed and Steve Ewing were too busy racing each other for second place to take on the leader. Ewing made an aggressive move on the final lap. But it didn't pay off as Reed pulled away to the second place finish.

NASCAR legend Ken Schrader fell one spot short of qualifying for the Late Model feature race. Schrader moved from ninth place to fourth during the semi-feature, but only the top three got an invite to the feature.
