Open wheels invade Macon Speedway one last time in 2008

MACON, IL (Sept 19) - On Saturday, September 27 the O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil will feature the 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprints & POWRi midgets. What was originally planned to be a two day event has been changed into one huge event on Saturday night. The POWRi Midgets and Micros will invade Macon Speedway one last time for the 2008 season and show their stuff as they try to conquer the 1/5 mile track.

O’Reilly POWRi expects a large contingent of cars to attend the POWRi National Midget Series race at Macon Speedway. The program will include both Midgets and Outlaw Micros and the 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprints will race for $1000 to win. Look for a National Micro Sprint event at Macon Speedway in 2009. Come out to the track and cheer on the heroes of the POWRi midgets like; Brett Anderson, Zach Daum, Brad Loyet, Derek King and Mike Hess to name a few. Justin Allgaier from Springfield, IL won the last POWRi Midget event at Macon Speedway, while Austin Brown won the last Mini Sprint main event.

The 600cc micro points race is being dominated by the 32K driven by Derek King, who was the 2007 National Midget Series Champion. Macon Speedway will also play host to the familiar UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks and UMP Pro and Amateur Hornets on this action packed evening of fun family entertainment. Come out and get your seat early to watch the open wheel cars fly around the track, and get your fill of racing before it’s too late.
