Anderson & Harris WIN Meents Memorial

BELLEVILLE, IL (Oct 4) - Belleville’s own Brett Anderson won the 30 lap O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil “Charlene Meents Memorial” National Midget event at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL Saturday night. Jonathan Hendrick would start on the pole and jump out to an early lead with Daniel Adler and Daniel Robinson in tow. Hendrick and Adler would use the cushion with Robinson using the open bottom to keep up. Anderson would soon join the trio and quickly move past Robinson. On lap 6 Anderson would dive past Adler and set his sights on Hendrick. On lap 12, as the pair came upon lapped traffic, Anderson dove under a lapped car going into turn one with Hendrick taking to the cushion. Anderson would quickly slide up in front of Hendrick and never relinquish the lead. The bottom groove quickly became the fast way around and Robinson would find his way past Hendrick as well with Tim Siner in tow. A caution on lap 28 would bunch up the field for a two lap shootout with Anderson holding on for the win with Robinson, Siner, Tony Roney and Hendrick rounding out the top five.

Nic Harris of Atlanta, IL won the 20 lap O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil “Charlene Meents Memorial” 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint event at Belle-Clair Speedway. Joe B. Miller of Millersville, MO would start on the pole and jump out to an early lead. Ryan Guyett of Springfield, IL would move up to second from his fourth starting spot on the opening lap. Harris, who started seventh, quickly made his way up to third and he and Guyett would pressure Miller from laps 6 to 10. On lap 11, Guyett and Harris would both decide to make their move on Miller and the trio would go three wide down the back straight into turn three. Miller would still hold on for one more lap and on lap 13, Harris would beat Miller and Guyett coming out of turn four and lead the final 6 laps for his first career POWRi win. Following Harris at the line was Jacob Patton, Miller, Derek King and Ryan Guyett rounding out the top five.
