Bull Wins Gary Reinhart Memorial as Guss Doubles Up

EAST MOLINE (September 20) - Sunday was Sharon’s Home Cooking/River Bend Pizza night at Quad City Speedway and it was also the night for the running of the J & J Camper Gary Reinhart Memorial race for the A Modified division.  Extra laps and extra purse were involved in this event.  John Bull snatched the lead of the Memorial Race on the drop of the green and led all thirty laps to the checkers for the victory.  About mid-race ninth place starter, Ray Bollinger started putting the pressure on Bull, but had to settle for second.  Doug Crampton was third with Milo Veloz Jr fourth and Brandon Durbin fifth.

The Sexton Ford IMCA Late Models had twenty-eight laps of a feature fromtwo weeks ago to finish and it went all twenty-eight laps straight through without a restart.  On the start it was Ray Guss Jr out front and he vever looked back as he sailed on to victory.  Rob Toland was second with Shawn Mulvany third.  Eric Gustaf took fourth over Todd Malmstrom;s fifth.  The regular Late Model feature for the night didn’t go quite as smooth, but the winner was the same.  Guss took the lead from Toland on lap six and sailed on for his second win of the night.  In this one it was Adam Oppendike second followed by Malmstrom, thirteenth place starter, Buck Harmening and Ron Gustaf, in that order.

Qualifying races proved a little rough for a couple of drivers as Jason Pershy rolled his A Modified and Tom Pestka rolled his Late Model.  Both drivers walked away.

The Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock feature had a rough time getting started as the caution flew three times in the first three laps, but then it settled down and went caution free the rest of the way.  Ron Marks Jr led the first three laps with Chris Hambright taking over on the last restart.  Hambright went on to take the win followed by Chris Lawrence second and Rob Nylin third.  Thirteenth place starter, Chuck Fox was fourth with fourteenth place starter, Bryan Ritter fifth.

Andrew Burk took the early lead of the Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature with Jerry Pratt taking over on lap four.  Pratt went on for the win with Burk Holding off Mark Vervynck to take second.  Vervynck was third followed by Jerry Durbin and Craig Crawford, in that order.

The Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder cars also had a make-up feature to run and on the start it was Aaron Hitt out front with Chad Tucker taking over on lap four.  Tucker led the rest of the way in this caution fee event to take the win.  Chris Holmlund was second with Hitt holding on for third.  Rob Brasher was fourth with Jeremy Marquette fifth.  The regular nights feature was also to have extra laps and extra purse, but due to curfew it had to be canceled and will be ran next week.
