Dykema and Anderson First Time Winners

EAST MOLINE, ILL (May 22, 2011) - Despite threatening weather all around the speedway, races got off Sunday at Quad City Speedway.  Those on hand were treated to some excellent racing in all divisions.  The first feature of the evening to hit the track was the Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature and Todd Dykema came from his third place starting spot to take the lead on the first lap.  Despite some challengers Dykema wasn’t going to be denied as he led flag to flag for his first ever feature win of any kind.  Milo Veloz jr was second followed by Craig Crawford, Stanley Vervynck and Jake Waterman, in that order.

Phil Anderson used his pole starting spot in the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock feature to it’s fullest advantage as he led glag to flag to take his first win in the Street Stock division.  The last few laps, last place starter, Chris Lawrence was fight there putting the pressure on, but had to settle for second.  Chuck Fox was third with Mike Anderson fourth and Cary Brown fifth.

Pole sitter, Casey Schram took the early lead of the Affordable Parking Lot A Modified feature with John Bull coming from sixth to take over the point on lap four.  Bull went on to take the victory holding off the challenges of second place finisher, Ryan Dolan.  Matt Werner was third with Doug Crampton fourth and Shaune Lewis fifth.

Front row starter, Eric Gustaf snatched the lead of the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature and was soon being chased by Jeremy Gustaf and Mike Garland.  Around lap seventeen, tenth place starter, Ray Guss Jr moved by ninth place starter, Rob Toland to move into second.  At lap twenty Guss went out front and on for his second win of the short season at Quad City Speedway.  Eric held on for second with Shawn Mulvany moving in to take third in the final laps.  Toland held on four fourth with Matt Ryan fifth.

With threatening weather rapidly moving in the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder feature was postponed and will be made up this coming week.
