Webb and Pestka Get First Wins
by: Ed Potter

EAST MOLINE, IL (June 11, 2011) - Ninety-one cars graced the pit area Saturday night at Jackson county Speedway, and the racing surface was in great shape.  Three divisions had repeat winners, but two had Jackson County Speedway first time winners for this season.  Hobby Stock was the first division to provide a repeat winner.  Gene Ehlers took the early lead, but a fifth l ap restart tightened the field back up.  On lap six Kile Vohringer went out front, but with three laps to go the field was again tightened back up. By another caution.  On the restart last place starter, Nate Yoerger moved into second.  On a last lap charge Yoerger took his second victory of the season.  Vohringer was a strong second with ninth place starter, Joe Grant third.  Justin Yarolem took fourth with Bruce Yoerger fifth.

Brian Webb started on the pole of the Gade Racing Engines/Shirts’n’Stuff IMCA Modified feature and once again proved that’s not a bad place to start as he led the feature flag to flag for his first Jackson County win this season.  On the drop of the green it was Webb out front with Mitch Morris in tow.  With five laps to go tenth place started, Jake Waterman moved in to take second as Morris held on for third.  Dan Klatt was fourth with Doug Crampton fifth.

Straight Pipes Plus Street Stock action saw third place starter, Jed Holland take the early lead, but a fourth lap caution got to him.  On the restart Timmy Curent went out front bringing Joe Bonney with him.  Current went on for his fourth win of this season with Bonney second.  On a last lap charge Chip Kohl moved in to take third with Holland holding on for fourth.  Kevin Brame rounded out the top five.

Once again the pole starting spot proved the place to start as Luke Pestka used his pole starting spot to lead the B & D Pit Stop IMCA Late Model feature flag to flag for his first win this year.  An eleventh lap restrt saw tenth place starter Ryan Duhme move into second, but nobody had anything for Pestka tonight.  Duhme finished second holding off the challenges of fifteenth place starter, Ray Guss Jr.  Doug Nigh was fourth with Terry Neal fifth.

Andy Wagener grabbed the early lead of the Hawkeye Auto 4 Stock feature and was still in control when a caution flew at the mid-race point as Lukas Short rolled his car in turn three.  Short was OK.  On the restart it was still Wagener out front with Gene Potter moving into second.  On the white flag lap Potter went out front and on for his second victory of the season.  Wagener held on for second followed by Jake Ellithorpe, Clarence Merrick and Chris Holmlund, in that order.
