NASCAR NIGHT, AMA HIGHLIGHT BUSY WEEK AT PEORIA SPEEDWAY

PEORIA, IL (June 14, 2011) - Tomorrow night, June 15, two of the Midwest’ native sons return to their roots as Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace headline “NASCAR Night of Stars” at Peoria Speedway. Both drivers will be in competition in the UMP Modified division against the always tough local drivers.

Schrader has competed in several Sprint Cup events this season and Wallace is a regular on the Nationwide Series but both drivers have a passion for dirt track racing. The St. Louis natives compete in several dirt races each year, most recently at the “Prelude to the Dream” at Eldora Speedway last week. Both drivers will be available for autographs after the races.

In addition to the UMP Modifieds, UMP Late Models will race for $1,500 to-win, and UMP Hornets will also be in action tomorrow. UMP National points and local track points will be awarded. Gates open at 5, with racing at 7. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $3 for ages 8-15, and under 8 free. On Friday night, June 17, the AMA Flat Track Motorcycle Series makes its’ return to Peoria Speedway. AMA Legend Chris Carr will be in competition as part of his “Farewell Tour”. Nicknamed the “Prince of Peoria” because of his success at the PMC Race Park, Carr will make his final appearance at Peoria Speedway Friday night, along with the rest of the AMA touring pros.

Admission for the AMA races are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $5 for kids 8-15, and under 8 are admitted free of charge. Peoria Speedway will present a full UMP racing program this Saturday night, featuring UMP Late Models, UMP Modfieds, Limited Late Models, Pro Street and Hornets.

SUMMERNATIONALS RETURN JULY 6

The UMP Late Model Summernationals will return to Peoria Speedway on Wednesday, July 6. The series begins its brutal tour through the Midwest this week, with 21 drivers expected to chase the Summernationals title, according to UMP Director Sam Driggers. The 40 lap feature will pay $5,000 to-win and Arkansas driver Jack Sullivan is the defending champion. 44 cars were in attendance at last years’ Summernationals race at Peoria Speedway.
