Bull Picks Up His Fourth Win of the Season
by Ed Potter

EAST MOLINE, IL (July 3, 2011) - Despite a few intermittent sprinkles Sunday evening the races at the Quad City Speedway got off without a hitch.  Milo Veloz Jr came from his fourth place starting spot to take the lead of the Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature on the first lap and he never looked back as he led flag to flag for his first win of this season.  Greg Durbin was second with TJ Patz third, Thad Wilson fourth and Mitch Morris fifth.

The Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock feature was almost to competitive as proven by the number of caution flags it produced.  Jerame Mowery took the lead on lap one, but a second lap restart had Cary Brown take over the point.  Despite the cautions Brown held on to the lead and went on for his first win of the year.  The real battle had been going on behind him with Emily Gade and RJ Gonzales fighting back and forth for second up until lap eleven.  On lap eleven Gonzales tried a little to hard and spun bringing out a caution and sending him to the rear with four laps to go.  Gade took second with Chuck Fox, who had been involved in one of the earlier cautions coming back through the field to take third.  Chris Lawrence was fourth with Nathan Hall fifth.

Front row starter, Shaune Lewis took the early lead of the Affordable Parking Lot A Modified feature, but on lap three tenth place starter, Brandon Durbin edged out front and the battle was on.  On lap five it was Lewis edging back out front and the pair battled side by side for the next seven laps.  On lap twelve Durbin was back out front and one lap later the pair of them spun in turn four.  On the restart it was John Bull taking over the point and going on for hes fourth win of this season.  Ryan Dolan was second with Matt Werner third.  Durbin worked his way back to take fourth with Brian Bushong fifth.

With no track points being awarded for the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model division the race was ran on a draw and redraw procedure for the starting line up.  This procedure put Gary Webb and Eric Gustaf  on the front row to start the feature, and what a show they put on.  Webb led the first lap with Gustaf taking over on lap two.  For the next twelve laps these two ran side by side until they got into lap traffic.  By lap twenty they had cleared the lap traffic and were back side by side until the checkers.  Gustaf took the win with Webb second.  Eighth place starter, Doug Nigh was third with Shawn Mulvany fourth and Mike Cothron fifth.

Mike Wisdom grabbed the early lead of the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder feature with Aaron Hitt taking over at the mid race point.  Lap eight saw Wisdom go back out front and two laps later Hitt pulled into the infield with a flat tire.  Wisdom went on for his second trip to victory circle this year.  Rob Brasher was second followed by Wade Dahl, Jake Ellithorpe, and Bryce Garnhart, in that order.
