Dolan Nabs His 3rd as Three Others Double Up

EAST MOLINE, IL (July 17, 2011) - Sunday was Foxtail Vinyl Design and Screen Printing night at the Quad City Speedway and for as dry as it has been the race track was in pretty good condition.  One driver picked up his third trip to victory circle as three drivers made their second trips and one driver got his first win of the season.  Pole sitter, Jerry Durbin grabbed the lead of the Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified feature with Scott Powell edging out front going down the back chute, when the caution flew and Powell was in the infield with mechanical woes.  This created a double front row restart with Milo Veloz Jr taking over the point.  Veloz sailed on for his second win of the season.  The race went caution free from that third lap restart on.  Thad Wilson moved in to take second with Durbin holding on for third.  Mitch Morris was fourth with Todd Dykema fifth.

The Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock feature didn’t go quite as smooth as the caution flew six times in the first nine laps.  At this time the drivers were told one more caution and the race was over, and they went on without any.  Jerame Mowery took the early lead with ninth place starter, RJ Gonzales taking over on lap six.  Gonzales went on for his second win this season with Chris Lawrence taking second and Cary Brown third.  Sixteenth place starter, Jason Bahrs was fourth with Mowery holding on for fifth.

Third place starter, Doug Crampton took the lead of the caution free Affordable Parking Lot A Modified feature and immediately had two side by side battles going on right behind him.  Brandon Durbin and Ryan Dolan were racing for second as John Bull and Jason Pershy were side by side right behind them.  By lap fifteen the leaders were starting into lap traffic and Dolan picked the right line as he moved out front.  Dolan went on for his third trip to victory cicle of the season.  Crampton held on for second with Durbin third, Bull fourth and Pershy fifth.

Mike Zemo Jr came from his third place starting spot to take the lead of the Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature with Billy Tuckwell right on his heels.  A sixth lap restart had Zemo back out front, now with Mike Cothron there trying to challenge.  Zemo started stretching his lead until the races only other caution flew at lap fifteen to bring the field back up tight behind him.  Zemo wasn’t letting anything get to him as he went on to take his second win in as many weeks.  Cothron held on for second with tenth place starter, Matt Ryan third and twelfth place starter, Ray Guss Jr fourth.  Shawn Mulvany was fifth.

The Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder feature ran caution free with pole sitter, Jason Blocker taking the lead.  With two laps to go Mitch Bielenberg moved out front and went on for his first Quad City Speedway victory of the year.  Blocker held on for second with Jake Ellithorpe third, Mike Wisdom fourth and Wade Dahl fifth.
