Schriner Get His First Win of the Season
by Ed Potter

EAST MOLINE, IL (July 31, 2011) - Even with the warm temperatures the racing surface at Quad City Speedway was in great shape as some moisture stayed in the track all program long.  Four drivers repeated as winners as one driver picked up his first win of the year.  Verplaetse Excavating IMCA Modified first heat winner, Jerry Durbin grabbed the early lead of the feature, but on lap four eighth place starter, Thad Wilson took over the point and went on for his fourth win of the season.  Jerry held on for second as Mitch Morris came fromhis eleventh starting spot for third.  Milo Veloz Jr was fourth with twelfth place starter, Greg Durbin fifth.  With three laps to go two cars piled up between turns three and four with Mark Vervynck ending up with his right front wheel on top of the wall.  The other driver was disqualified for rough driving.

Bryan Ritter led the first lap of the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stock feature, but on lap two Phil Anderson went by bringing Rick Schriner with him.  Soon Schriner was putting the pressure on as he and Anderson battled side by side in the later laps.  On the white flag lap Schriner went out front and on for his first trip to the winners circle this year.  Anderson held on for second with Rob Henry third, Chris Lawrence fourth and Chuck Fox fifth.

Front row starter, Nick Hixson took the early lead of the Affordable Parking Lots A Modified feature and by lap three had a three way battle between Doug Crampton, Brandon Durbin and Ryan Dolan for the second place spot.  On lap eight Durbin went out front and now had John Bull and Crampton hot on his heels.  By the mid race point Dolan moved back up and joined Bull and Crampton chasing Durbin.  In the late stages of the race Bull moved in to challenge Durbin but had to settle for second as Durbin took his second win of the season.  Dolan was third with Crampton fourth and Leland Bushong fifth.

Todd Malmstrom took the early lead of the caution free Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature and appeared to have things under control.  With around seven laps remaining Malmstrom was working his way through lap traffic and tenth place starter, Ray Guss Jr moved into second.  Soon Guss was right on Malmstrom and both were trying to get by a couple of lap cars.  With four laps to go Guss made the right choice and moved out front.  Guss went on for his fifth win of the season with Malmstrom a close second.  Mike Garland was third with Mike Cothron fourth and Gary Webb fifth.

Zach Dahl took the lead of the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4 Cylinder feature on the drop of the green, but on lap three Aaron Hitt move by to take over.  Hitt went on for his fourth win of the year with Brandon Dahl second.  Last place starter, Steven Phillips took third with Zach Dahl holding on for fourth.  To round out the Dahl show, Wade Dahl was fifth.
