Crampton Takes Home Gary Reinhart Memorial Honors

EAST MOLINE, IL (October 1, 2011) - Saturday the Quad City Speedway hosted the Showtime Custom Graphics/Aaron’s Affordable Towing Gary Reinhart Memorial race for the IMCA Modified division.  John Ahlers used his front row starting spot to take the lead of this thirty lapper, and soon had Doug Crampton putting the pressure on.  On lap nine Crampton moved out front and he soon had twelfth place starter, Milo Veloz Jr right on his tail.  Veloz could get up beside Crampton but couldn’t pull off the pass.  With two laps to go the caution flew for the fourth and last time bringing the field right back up all together on Crampton’s tail.  Crampton went on to take the victory with Greg Durbin moving in to take second and Ray Cox Jr third.  Veloz held on for fourth with Mitch Morris fifth.

The Late Model feature got off to a rough start with a three car pile-up right in front of the flag stand on the drop of the green.  On the restart Todd Malmstrom grabbed the lead with Shawn Mulvany taking over on lap three.  On lap nine the ninth place starter, Ray Guss Jr went out front and sailed on for the win.  Mulvany held on for second with twelfth place starter, Eric Gustaf third.  Joe Ross took fourth over Travis Denning’s fifth.

Pole sitter, Scott Fridley took early control of the A Modified feature and held on until a twelfth lap restart.  On the restart it was still Fridley out front, but now he had tenth place starter, Brandon Durbin on his rear bumper.  Durbin moved out front two laps later and flew on for the win.  Shaune Lewis was second with Fridlley holding on for third.  The 88’s were fourth and fifth, with Tony VonDresky taking fourth and Jerry Bailey Jr fifth.

With Nick and Chris Lawrence starting on the front row it was Chris taking immediate control of the Street Stock feature, but unfortunately it wasn’t the smoothest race of the evening.  At lap eleven the fifth had flown and the drivers were shown one more and the race was over.  As another lap wasn’t competed and the caution flew yet again the race was over.  The last five laps that were run under green you could have thrown a blanket over the top three cars.  Chris Lawrence took the win with Cary Brown second.  After being pulled into the first caution and starting last Emily Gade came back to take third.  Nick Lawrence was fourth with Randy Exline fifth.

Mike Wisdom took control of the 4 Cylinder feature and looked to be the eventual winner, but in a last lap charge Rob Nylin took the win by less than a front bumper.  Wisdom was second with Dale Tucker third, Ted Hines fourth and Dustin Forbes fifth.
