Peoria Speedway practice April 7, Bohlander Tribute April 14

 PEORIA, IL (December 21, 2011) - The staff and management of Peoria Speedway would like to wish all of our fans, staff members, sponsors and competitors a safe and happy holiday season. As we close out 2011, planning is underway at theFarmington Roadquarter-mile oval for the 2012 racing season.

The 2012 racing season will open on Saturday, April 7 with an open practice session for all classes, with times TBA. The season kicks off in style with the running of the “Don Bohlander Tribute” race for UMP Late Models on Saturday, April 14. The 50 lap UMP Late Model feature will pay $4,000 to-win.

The race is in honor of 2011 Dirt Late Model Hall-of-Fame inductee andPeoriaracing legend Don Bohlander. The race will also be a benefit for Parkinsons’ Reasearch, with several activities planned. The 2011 event drew a stellar 31 car field with 2011 UMP National Champion Ryan Unzicker taking the win.

The only other confirmed date so far for 2012 is the return of the UMP “Summernationals” on Monday, July 2. Shannon Babb is the defending “Summernationals” champion atPeoria, and the race will pay $5,000 to-win. The “Summit Racing Equipment UMP Modified Nationals” will also be on the card July 2. The entire schedule will be released in mid-January.
