Independence falls to rain April 29

INDEPENDENCE, Ia (April 29, 2006) - The racing program scheduled for Saturday, April 29, at Independence Motor Speedway has been rained out. Persistent rain showers throughout the morning, which are expected to last throughout the afternoon and evening hours, have forced officials to cancel the night's program.

The next event scheduled for the 3/8-mile oval is the first of eight events in the Independence Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Indee Open Series this Wednesday, May 3. Indee Open late models, modifieds and stock cars will compete. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $8 for students 12-17 and $2 for children 5-11. Kids under five will be admitted free. Unaccompanied teens will be required to pay the adult admission price. Pit passes are $25.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. on May 3, with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 and the first green flag set to fly at 7. The race day phone number is (319) 334-9287.
